MetroScan Online v5.0

MetroScan Online 5.0 is a platform compatibility upgrade that consists entirely of 32-bit components. These upgraded components allow MetroScan to function on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems.

Downloading MetroScan 5.0 will not over-ride the current MetroScan 4.9 files on your system, but rather, install the program to a new working folder.

System Requirements

• Windows XP (SP1)
• Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
• Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) Note: Not fully tested at this time.

Enhancements

Every effort was made to keep the look-and-feel of the current 16-bit version, but the process of upgrading the components to 32-bit has “modernized” most of the MetroScan interface. 

Other enhancements include:

• The name of the currently opened search file is displayed in the caption of the main application.
• Long file names (more than 8 characters) can now be used to save various types of files including searches.
• Long file names are now used when saving custom index and report lists. This eliminates the need for a separate list description edit box.
• Parcel maps can now be exported in monochrome TIFF, color TIFF, monochrome BMP, color BMP, PNG, EMF and PDF format (the older WMF and placeable WMF formats are no longer supported).

Upgrading from MetroScan Online v4.9

1. Click on the MetroScan Online V5.0 link.
2. Click the green MetroScan Online V5.0 link at the top of the screen.
3. Click Run.
   
   

   
   

   The MetroScan Online.exe is downloaded to the computer’s temporary folder from the facorelogic website. The dialog box closes when the download completes.

4. Click Run.
   
   

   

   
   The Install Wizard displays.

5. Click Next on the Install Wizard.
   
   

    

   
   The User Agreement displays.

6. Check the “I accept the agreement” option button and click Next.
   

    

   
   The Select Destination dialog displays.

7. Select the location to which to install the program and click Next.
   
   

   Note: The default working folder name for MetroScan Online 5.0 is “MetroScan” (as opposed to “MetroScn”, which is the default name for MetroScan Online 4.9)

8. Select the Start Menu Folder and click Next.

   a. Check “Create shortcut” to create a shortcut that points to MetroScan Online 5.0. Any existing MetroScan Online desktop icons still point to MetroScan Online 4.9

   b. Check “Import existing MetroScan Online v4.9 files” to copy Search Files, Report Lists, Index Lists, Street and Parcel Map settings, AutoComp Parameter Files, AutoComp Report Lists, Export Lists, and Display Settings into the new MetroScan folder.

   c. Check “Include existing reports” to copy any Custom Reports to the new MetroScan folder

10. Click Install to install the program.

11. Find the folder for the instance of MetroScan 4.9 from which you’d like to copy the files and click OK.

12. Click Finish to complete the setup.
